Understanding the Consciousness Shift: Through Kali, Goddess of Revolution
The Rise in Divine Feminine Energy: Understanding our Current Situation as a Global Shift in Consciousness
We are currently undergoing a refinement in consciousness. This shift into a new way of thinking that is inclusive, rooted in love, and understands the interconnection of us all. We are seeking to restore balance to our planet so that we can live in peace, love, and harmony. This revolution in consciousness is occurring as a rise in Divine Feminine Energy.
It is no secret that we have been living in a patriarchal society, that is male dominated leadership for thousands of years. We are being called to make radical changes and shift our consciousness, so that we can honor wisdom of the feminine equally . It is not moving into a matriarchal society, but into a society that is about equality and balance between both energetic forces.
I want to note that even though I speak about masculine and feminine, I am not talking about gender, I am talking about collective energies that are present within everyone.
We’ve all heard about “yin and yang” and are aware of this meaningful symbol that represents balance and harmony. In Chinese medicine, our health is related to the balance between these two states. The yin being feminine in nature, and in relation to our health is about rest, relaxation, and introspection. Yang is masculine in nature and is about movement, activity, exercise, and expansion.
Another way to view these two energies is as “Shiva” and “Shakti”as in certain Hindu, Yogic, and Tantric philosophies. I think its helpful to understand these energies through the lens of mythology behind them. Shiva is the masculine, or “god principle”. Shakti is the feminine or “goddess principle”. In the Hindu pantheon, all the gods have a goddess counterpart. The two of them together keep each other in this state of balance, union, harmony, joy, love, and bliss. My favorite love stories take place in these myths of the gods and goddesses, in Shiva and Shakti.
The Myth of Kali
I believe the energy of Kali Shakti is assisting us in this shift in consciousness now.
Let me tell you a little about the Goddess of Revolution, Kali. Kali is fierce and protective. She is depicted as wearing a necklace of skulls, a skirt of severed limbs, holding a machete in one hand and a bloody chopped off head in the other – sounds fucking terrifying right? Yeah, she is. She represents this fierce motherly protection, the kind you don’t want to mess with.
So how does this all relate to the corona virus and the current refining of our consciousness?
I think it’s important to understand where her rage comes from and why she is depicted as terrifying and going on killing sprees in many of her myths.
The feminine Shakti energy that she represents is like the momma grizzly bear, who would do anything to protect her baby bear cubs.
She has this ability to destroy anyone who puts her babies in harm’s way. Even though most of the time she is loving and looking after her family, there is a rage within her that when provoked -- could cause a global fucking pandemic.
No momma grizzly bear will sit and watch if her baby is in danger, she will fight with a vengeance. Currently, the Earth is in danger, our health is in danger (we are constantly working, without honoring the time we need for yin), our sexual health is in danger (1/3 women have been raped or sexually assaulted), and our nation is divided. Kali is the Goddess of Revolution and she is here to help us make a change.
Kali is like the destruction before the rebirth. She is like the necessary burning of the forest before regrowth can happen. She may appear as chaos, but in fact she is here to help us all return to balance and live in love. So when will Kali’s rage subside? When does this pandemic stop? When we understand the solution — love.
These myths can be interpreted in different ways but the way I see it here is that when Kali goes off destroying everything in her path, causing global pandemics, as the provoked angry momma bear, it is when Shiva, her God appears that she immediately goes back to her loving, nurturing, caring nature. She sees him and returns to her lovely beautiful self. This idea that love is the solution for restoring balance.
I want to note that love can come in many forms. Love can be romantic, it can be love for self, for family, for friends, for communities and for humanity. It doesn’t need to be romantic love.
Love is this non-judgmental, compassionate awareness we give towards ourselves and others.
So right now as Kali is in rage, unleashing this pandemic in upset for harming mother earth, and not honoring the feminine ways of BEING— she is teaching us to shift our consciousness. She is awakening us to the ways in which we are all interconnected, to how we must take time to rest and relax when we need. She is showing us how the masculine goal-driven, way of DOING, must be balanced with purposeful time to be and create. We must look out for each other, we cannot harm the cubs, we are all affected and a collective one. There is no one way to do things, but there is one way we can heal and change, and that is placing LOVE as our top priority. When we have nothing else, say if we lose our job, our health, or feel stripped of all that we are, there is only one thing remaining – love.
For Kali to stop this sort of destructive rampage, she simply needs to be seen and heard with love. Which is exactly what the wounded feminine has been asking for with the rise of “Me Too” movement and bringing light to places like the rape culture. Deep wounds exist in the feminine psyche, as a result of giving up power. In the same sense, having too much power has caused a sickness in the masculine psyche. There is clearly an imbalance of power here, which is why Kali has come to kick off this revolution in consciousness.
She is waking us up to new ways of being, that is rooted in love and compassion for all.
With love,
